Since 1973

In times of extensive reporting obligations for companies, we introduced the Schubert ANNUAL 2023 together with our client Schubert.

The entirely new publication format, a hybrid of annual report, business report and sustainability report, highlights Schubert's activities in the area of sustainability in the overall corporate context. Transparent, evidence-based and therefore honest and credible – these were the key factors for everyone involved.

Of course, the objective was also to present Schubert as a family-owned company that wants to continue its innovation leadership based on a long heritage. Into sustainable, future-proof areas that go well beyond pure machine and packaging technology. All the way through to production and company management. This is why the ANNUAL covers a wide range of topics, from sustainable technology and product development to Schubert's New Work environments and the company's very own Children's Campus. An annual update is planned to ensure that it truly is an ANNUAL.

Schubert ANNUAL 2024

The client

As an innovation driver and technology leader worldwide, packaging machine manufacturer Schubert has been shaping the international packaging industry for more than half a century. With customised robot-assisted systems for FMCG manufacturers, the Schubert Group sets standards in terms of efficiency and flexibility. The family-owned company is now bringing to life its vision for the future of a sustainable packaging world in its Mission Blue Sustainability Initiative.

The assignment

The new ANNUAL format combines Schubert's previous annual business report with the now legally required sustainability report. Two in one: A sustainability & annual management report

Two in one: A sustainability & annual management report

The concept behind the ANNUAL is to combine a management report with a sustainability report, in an appealing, clear and comprehensible form. Hence the multi-part structure, which is also reflected in the publication's visual appearance.

  • The ANNUAL begins with the Vision 2050 and the financial section (Facts & Finance), which is presented in a graphically clear and informative way.
  • The next magazine section is dedicated to storytelling about the many activities and facets of the company's Mission Blue Sustainability Initiative.
  • Examples and sustainability in practice from all four Mission Blue fields of action can be discovered here. The sustainability impact of Gerhard Schubert's highlight projects and those of its subsidiaries is also included.
  • An appendix provides concrete figures, the structure of which corresponds to the EU's ESRS reporting requirements (although Schubert will not be required to report until 2025).
  • The content focuses on a review of the past financial year, activities, results in the area of sustainability as well as key figures.
  • The 64-page report was printed on recycled paper of the highest certification level in three different grammages – which gives the publication a pleasant feel.
  • The ANNUAL was presented to the public for the first time at the Schubert Days customer event on 6 June 2024.
  • The ANNUAL is now also available online as an annual customer magazine.

Our Creative Director Mona Amann summarises the project's challenges: "The different sections of the ANNUAL place very different demands on timing, briefing, text, design and project management. Bringing it all together to create a coherent, compelling product is mainly thanks to the great team spirit between everyone involved. We produced the ANNUAL in an extremely tight timeframe – from the first text and layout to the handover of the final print data. This only works with a team that pulls together and overcomes all hurdles with great flexibility, a talent for improvisation and steady nerves."
