Our approach as an internet agency: Close collaboration between all disciplines

It always starts with an in-depth analysis of your requirements: As a first step, our web developers and UX designers set the goals and requirements together with you and discuss the various possibilities for implementation.

Then, based on the project’s framework requirements, cost and time schedules are worked out.

UX: A concept for ideal user guidance

A successful website stands out with a coherent, understandable user guidance. This includes navigation across the entire domain as well as user guidance within the individual pages.

Navigation concepts serve to organise the content in a clear and coherent manner. The more stringent and consistent cross-page navigation mechanisms are, the easier they are to follow. And nothing is more important for a web presence than that the user knows at all times where he or she is on the website.

UX and SEO: The information architecture

The term “information architecture” refers to the classification, labelling and structuring of all content. It plays a particularly important role in the structure of the website. For us as an internet agency, this means naming the individual topics or products and organising them into semantic categories. These then represent the main components of the website hierarchy, which makes it easier for users to find their way around.

We approach this structural website development in a multi-stage process. The information architecture has to take place even before the conceptual design of the actual website. It is important for us that all the disciplines work closely together and that we consult with the programmers regarding the costs and possible implications, for example, on the website’s loading time. The following steps are necessary:

Keyword research and relevance analysis

To help users find the website, you first have to know what they are actually looking for. Keyword research tools such as Google Trends or Semrush help us determine the relevance of specific keywords.

A high search volume promises a lot of traffic, but is most often accompanied by a correspondingly high number of competing websites. The more competition there is, the more you have to optimise for the respective keyword in order to be in the lead. Really good, relevant content is king here!

The keywords are then clustered into different categories according to importance and topic. In B2B, the search volumes are usually not as high as in the B2C environment. On the other hand, long-tail keywords reach exactly the desired target group.

Page navigation and hierarchy

Based on the researched topic groups, our UX team creates the concept for the page hierarchy in close coordination with the SEO experts. This begins with the start page, continues with categories and subcategories, and ends with the specific product and information pages.

Flat hierarchies are best so that users can quickly and intuitively find their way around and the search engines’ crawlers can quickly grasp the domain’s pages and transfer them to the highest possible ranking.

Wireframes

In the next step, our UX designers create wireframes. Wireframing comes before design (mock-up) and technical implementation (prototype).

Wireframes visualise the elements of a website and make its structure visible. While mock-ups contain images, graphics, colours and fonts, wireframes do not. Instead, they concentrate on the arrangement of the elements that determine the interaction between the website and the user.

Wireframes are created in close consultation with you, the client. And in this step, too, the various disciplines of our internet agency coordinate internally. So it makes sense that an SEO expert and, especially, a developer are involved early on in the process.

Web design – naturally responsive

Web design is what brings all the elements of a website together – from layout, images and graphics to colours and fonts.

These elements determine the look & feel of a website. Of course, we will design your site “mobile first”: In the past, the desktop view of a website was always the starting point – and then a mobile version was derived from it. Today, people take the opposite approach – and design the mobile website first.

And for good reason. Most websites are now accessed more often by mobile than by desktop computer. And even if in the B2B sector much more is done at the workplace – and therefore via desktop devices – here, too, the trend is clearly pointing in the direction of more mobile. Moreover, the search engines only crawl mobile websites.

To User Interface

Web development

This is where the technical part of the website creation begins and our developers can finally programme. Depending on the project, we usually work with agile project management tools such as Kanban or Scrum.

The following features make for promising web programming:

  • Good interactivity
  • Dynamic content
  • Professional web hosting
  • Current web standards

The process:

  • Our web agency’s web developers begin with a framework. They determine which databases and interfaces are right for the project – taking into account all the client's specifications, including the languages in which the website should go online.
  • Then the programmers create a prototype.
  • Front- and back-end development: In the front-end, the user interface and the designs are programmed. In the back-end, programmers work on the code structure.
  • Approval & support: After completion, testing is carried out – UX design and SEO are also on board here – and optimised until you, the client, approves everything.
  • Ongoing support with us as a website agency is then about maintenance, service and support as well as continuous improvements and further development.

Search machine optimisation

One of our SEO experts accompanies all of the above-mentioned steps and incorporates their expertise into the other disciplines.

Basically, search engine optimisation (SEO) is roughly divided into on-page SEO and off-page SEO and is closely linked to improving the user experience.

SEO, together with search engine advertising (abbreviation: SEA), constitutes the field of search engine marketing (abbreviation: SEM).

While the consequences of SEO measures usually only become visible after some time, visibility, reach and traffic can be increased immediately with SEA.

Content production

As highlighted in a previous section: Content is king.

Bill Gates used this phrase to describe the importance of content. Content not only has to be correct and easy to understand, it also has to meet the target group’s tastes, preferences and expectations. A company can ideally show its expertise with this type of content – and achieve the targeted reach.

As an internet agency, we will be happy to create the right content for you. But, of course, this has to be considered from the very beginning, because wireframes and design should already be tested and developed with the right content.

Analysis and reporting

Marketing reporting involves collecting, analysing and presenting all data related to a company’s marketing efforts with the aim of identifying areas for improvement and exploiting improvement potential.
